Lillian Salil, a new coffee farmer from Plateau farms a 10-acre plot growing Ruiru 11 and Batian separately. Lot 20 has contracted her to produce single-variety lots, which allows them to taste the distinct varietal characteristics—a rare opportunity in Kenya, where most farmers harvest and process varieties indiscriminately.
Lillian’s farm is highly modernised, featuring drip irrigation and organic manure from her commercial dairy operation. This ensures healthy trees, selective picking, and individual processing of varieties, making this partnership truly special.
This coffee is a traditional natural process, meaning the coffee cherry was left on the seeds to dry in the sun before being hulled.
